Born out of a desire to stop price gouging under the guise of “inflation”, husband & wife team Marcus & Patricia founded We Build Stuff in 2023.
Prior to starting our business, we witnessed countless contractors padding their own pockets as inflation increased, while paying their subcontractors pennies. Decks that they were charging $16,000 - $35,000 to build shouldn’t have cost more than $13,000.
Homeowners were paying too much and we decided to do something about it.
Marcus has been in the construction industry for over a decade and Patricia picked up the trade a couple of years before starting We Build Stuff. We’ve always loved working with our hands and building something beautiful out of a pile of lumber. It’s like legos for grownups!
As Colorado Natives, we also find great joy in meeting new neighbors, and collaborating with them to make their house feel more like home.

Meet the Team
Hi. We’re Marcus & Patricia Fichter
Marcus has been doing residential construction for over a decade. When he’s not obsessing over the details of a building project, you’ll find him in our greenhouse sprouting trees he found on a hike or in a neighbor’s yard. He’s a devoted dad to our three kids and has a heart of gold.
Patricia left a Paraprofessional job to join Marcus at We Build Stuff. When she’s not busy on the job, you’ll find her hanging out with the kids or tending to our chickens and vegetable garden. Patricia has an infectious laugh and is is anything but the stereotypical builder. She’s always learning, and finding creative ways to make our world a better place.
Meet Connor & Cindy.
Connor is our future son-in-law, and the family member you’ll find building with us most often. He’s very hard working, and has picked up the trade quite well.
Cindy is our oldest daughter, and the one who finds the most joy in painting. So when a job needs paint, Cindy joins us to get it done. Her lighthearted nature always brightens the day!
That’s Pretty Much It!
While it’s usually just us working on a project, you may also see other family members around the job site from time to time. Our son likes to earn some extra money helping out when he’s not in school, and even Patricia’s dad has been known to haul some concrete when help is needed. We’re truly a small family business, and look forward to the opportunity for our family to build your family’s dream!
